Real Madrid is delivering more and more happy news for the fans in the recent days after their 14th UEFA Champions League victory. One of their legendary midfielders, Luka Modric, decided to extend his contract and also Los Blancos have agreed on a deal to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco.
Modric signs another one year deal
Luka Modric has signed a one-year contract extension with Real Madrid, which will keep him in the club at least until the summer of 2023. Next September, Modric will turn 37 years old, so this could be his last year as a Real Madrid player.
Modric has become one of the great players of modern times at Santiago Bernabeu, winning five Champions League titles as well as the Ballon d’Or in 2018.
The 2018 World Cup finalist has spent nine seasons at Madrid to date, the latest of which saw him add three more trophies to his glittering career.
The Blancos followed up Supercopa de Espana and La Liga successes by securing their 14th European title with a 1-0 final victory over Liverpool at Stade de France.
Modric has racked up 462 appearances for Madrid since he arrived from Tottenham in 2012, winning 19 major trophies.
“I hope I can retire at Madrid. Madrid is my home. I feel very happy at the club, in the city, very loved by the people,” he said after winning the Marca Leyenda award earlier this month.
Real Madrid agree €100m deal with AS Monaco
Real Madrid have reached an agreement with AS Monaco for the transfer of Aurelien Tchouameni. Both clubs are in the process of completing the paperwork and regulatory procedures for the 22-year-old’s transfer to be signed and officially announced.
Tchouameni’s performance in the previous Ligue 1 season drew a lot of attention, prompting big clubs from all over Europe to show interest in him.
Real Madrid defeated Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool in the race to sign Tchouameni for the upcoming season. The heavyweights from France and England were also in talks with Monaco, but it was learnt that the European champions eventually secured Tchouameni for the next season. According to reports, PSG and Liverpool walked away from the deal after learning that Tchouameni was only interested in playing for Madrid and no other club.
This comes after Real Madrid signed 19-year-old Eduardo Camavinga, another French international who joined the club from Rennes in 2021. The Los Blancos have reportedly signed Tchouameni to bolster their midfield, including players like Casemiro, Luka Modric, and Toni Kroos. However, all of these players are in their early or mid-thirties and will be able to play for the club for only a few more years.
