Real Madrid returned to winning ways as they defeated Cadiz 2-1 in their final game before the FIFA World Cup. The defending champions are now in second place in La Liga with 35 points from 14 matches and have reduced Barcelona’s lead in the table to two points. Cadiz, on the other hand, are in the 19th position with just 11 points from 14 matches. The hosts opened the scoring in the 40th minute when Eder Militao scored a header from a free kick. Tony Kroos blasted in a volley in the 70th minute to give them a 2-0 lead. Cadiz pulled one back in the 81st minute through Lucas Perez but couldn’t find time for another as Real Madrid finished the game with three points.
