Almeria v Cadiz – Betting Preview

Almeria Summary

Almería has not only not been able to build any momentum or positive sensations on the back of the season’s best 1-0 win over Barcelona, but they have gone steeply backwards since, losing every game.

The loss in Sevilla last weekend was especially disappointing as they led and missed big chances to win it at 0-1 and 1-1.  It left them sitting second from bottom in La Liga 2022/23.

The last home game was a horrible showing and they were defeated and played off the park by Villarreal. They begin this La Liga round in 18th position, in great fear of the drop.

Rubi is under growing pressure, particularly after being hammered by Girona where some players gave up.

This is a vital game against a direct relegation rival in Cadiz. A win is the aim and anything less is a major blow.

Looking at team news now. Almeria can recall César de la Hoz but they are missing Toure in attack due to a knock, which could see him miss a big chunk of the remaining season.

There is a big concern too over Gonzalo Melero. He is given a 50/50 chance to start.

Cadiz Summary

Cadiz comes into the game determined to avoid a defeat against a huge relegation and local rival.

They are the club in much better form and with less pressure on them to win this game.

Relative to Almeria the host here, Cadiz form is reasonably positive, but they were on their knees with disappointment when Getafe grabbed a 105th minute leveller in the last game.

They only dropped one place down to 16th after the last round, but if they lose here then 19th placed Almeria would move ahead of them.

Looking at team news for Cadiz which provides very concerning news and up to four new absences. This particularly negative when remembering too that boss Sergio González was already without Ocampos, a powerful and quick left-sided winger.

Cádiz have a three men suspended too because of the war like game at home to Getafe. There are bans to Fali, Iza Carcelén and keeper Jeremías Ledesma.

The right back was handed only a three-game ban for assaulting a Getafe player at the end of the game last week. Meanwhile the keeper was handed a four game suspension. Combined, these could ruin their season.

On top of existing injuries, Alcaraz is going to be a last minute decision due to a muscle strain.

David Gil replaces Ledesma in goal, and this is potentially a big loss. The starting keeper has been sensational this season while Gil is lacking minutes. As the graph below shows, he has prevented between 8/9 shots where goals would have been expected.

Raúl Parra comes into the right back vacancy while Mere and Momo compete for the position in central defence.

Meanwhile in the possible 4th forced move, San Emeterio comes in if Alcaraz fails his fitness test.

Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 market first. Almeria is the favourite to win @ 2.10.

Cadiz is a tough opponent and will be highly motivated against a local rival, a draw is very good for them and so a win @ 3.65 is unlikely. The draw is possibly the value @ 3.45.

Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. As above, Cadiz would take the point and so Cadiz +0.5 @ 1.81 is a slight preference. Almeria -0.5 @ 2.07 are playing badly and lacking confidence, but team news favours them on a positive note.

Looking at The Under/Over goal betting last of all. The line is set at 2.25 having opened at 2.5. This indicates punters didn’t have any interest in overs.  At 2.25, the over is @ 1.85 and the Under is @ 1.98.
