Athletic Club Summary
Athletic Bilbao comes into the game with Getafe knowing a win is a must to keep pace with the top six of La Liga 2022/23.
They put in a strong showing in the 3-1 win against Valladolid away before the international break.
However, as Villarreal won their game in Osasuna, the league table did not change much for them.
Inconsistency continues to plague the Basques and has seen them lose ground on the prospect of playing champions league football next season.
The next target will be staying in touch with the top six and to remain in contention for the Europa League places.
Getafe is a side fighting the top and so failure to win would be perceived as a big setback.
Athletic has some positive team news and it may get better if Unai Simon their keeper returns.
Back up shot stopper Agirrezabala has done very well as a replacement, but not well enough to keep his place on merit. It is no better than 50/50 that the number one is passed fit, however.
Jon Morcillo and Íñigo Lekue remain out. squad player Ander Herrera is available.
Getafe Summary
Getafe’s confidence and form have been significantly improved in the last few rounds, peaking with a vital win over Sevilla at home in the last game before the international break.
Before the 2-0 win over Sevilla, the now 13th placed Getafe had snatched a late but deserved draw in a must not lose game against Cadiz.
That draw came on the back of much-needed wins over Valencia and Girona. All of which has seen them midtable and away from the drop zone in terms of the number of places, but in reality, they are anything but out of danger.
Even with this upward momentum, they remain just three points above the 18th placed Valencia.
Team news is excellent for Getafe because the only new absence is Gaston Alvarez. He only got the nod against Sevilla as Duarte and Alderete were both suspended. The latter two names return from bans and will begin.
This leaves Getafe close to their best XI, the only injury concern is Mauro Arambarri.

Looking at the 1×2 market first. Athletic is the favourites to win @ 1.65.
The draw is @ 3.75 and Getafe win is @ 5.20.
Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. Athletic -0.75 is @ 1.85 which looks fair.
Getafe will have the odd chance in this, but need to compete and defend very well to not concede goals.

Going to Basque country, Getafe knows this is an extremely difficult match, they would be delighted with a draw and so likely be defensive until behind. An early Athletic goal is great for overs.
