Atletico Madrid v Sevilla – Betting Preview

Atletico Madrid Summary

Simeone’s side successfully frustrated rivals Real Madrid last weekend, holding the rival to a 1-1 draw despite playing with one man less. They remain sitting in 3rd position of La Liga 2022/23.

Atletico was delighted with the fact that 4th placed Real Sociedad dropped all three points in their game with Valencia, meaning that they gained a point on their challenger for 3rd place.

Atletico Madrid’s league form has improved in recent weeks and the team is looking much more like the vintage Atletico. This fact underlined by three of the last five games finishing 1-0 in their favour.

The confidence and mood continue to rise, and this feels like a good time to face Sevilla which is always a hotly contested match up.

Looking at the team news now, where Simeone has a couple of regular men out but nothing serious.

They are missing Molina (suspension) at full back and the option to use Angel Correa in attack after his red in the Madrid derby. De Paul is the other notable man missing. He will be out another couple of weeks.

Based on training this week it looks set that Atletico use the follow side; Oblak; Llorente, Savic, Giménez, Hermoso, Carrasco; Barrios, Koke, Lemar; Griezmann and Memphis

Sevilla Summary

After a credible draw in Vallecas against a high-flying and top-six La Liga side Rayo two weeks ago, Sampaoli’s suffered a massive setback last weekend.

With the home defeat to Osasuna combined with results involving sides beneath and around them. They’ve dropped right back into relegation trouble.

Sevilla is sitting in 14th place before any matches in the round have begun. However, they have only a narrow and nervy 2 point lead over 18th placed Valencia.

This fragile looking position in La Liga 2022/23 table really piles the pressure on them to try and get something from the tough trip to the capital.

Looking at the Sevilla team news, they have a number of men out including a fresh absence in the shape of the suspended Fernando.

Loic Badé, Marcao, and Papu Gómez, and Karim Rekik all remain out injured too.

The boss will make several changes for this match.

Telles is expected to start in the midfield while Marcos Acuña returns having been rested in the 3-2 loss to Osasuna.

Suso, Ocampos, Rakitic and Bryan Gil contest three places behind the striker En Nesyri.

The out of form Lamela may need to start on the bench.

Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 market first. Atletico is going well and will strongly fancy themselves wining this often-bad blooded game. This is relevant as it suits them for the contest to be high octane and aggressive.

Atletico is @ 1.71. Sevilla is @ 5.25, while the draw is @ 3.75. a strong preference for the host here.

Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. As above, everything looks well set for Atletico -0.75 @ 1.92 here.

Sevilla was woeful against Osasuna and this is a much tougher game away from home. Sevilla +0.75 is @ 1.94.

Looking at The Under/Over goal betting last of all where the line is set at 2.25. Over is @ 1.96 and Under is @ 1.86. As touched on above, this will be heated and likely erratic which normally means a tight low scoring match. Sevilla is not dependable on goals however, so an easy pass.
