Atletico Madrid vs Real Valladolid – Betting Preview

Atletico Madrid Summary

Atletico Madrid’s league form is poor, but they progressed in the cup midweek and so the season still has some momentum.

Simeone is expected to leave at the end of this season which has generated instability and insecurity in the club. This seems to be affecting results and they have fallen well away from the title challenge they hoped to sustain.

The team is moving extremely well in the Copa del Rey but Atlético Madrid’s La Liga campaign is faltering by comparison. The 1-1 draw in Almeria was the fifth time they failed to win in their last six league matches, a real concern to Simeone.

Atletico has Savic out with a suspension and Gimenez remains sidelined by injury. This leaves them notably weaker in defence.

Carrasco is cleared to play after a minor knock and new signing Depay has a small chance to feature. Fringe left back Reguilón is suspended but was not likely to begin had he been available.

Real Valladolid Summary

Real Valladolid will be well motivated against Atletico Madrid, and they’ll travel to the capital to try and frustrate and get a draw. Survival is their main objective in this campaign.

Pacheta was fully backed by the owner midweek and the general mood within the club is positive.

The boss has up to five missing senior Players for the game on Saturday. Monchu is missing due to a suspension while all Escudero, Kenedy, and Anuar remain sidelined due to injury.

On a positive note, for Valladolid, Roque Mesa and Joaquín are recovered from fitness issues and the former will line up as the playmaker from the midfield

The biggest boost for Valladolid is that star striker Sergio León returns from a 3-game suspension. With this, they will hope to regain the scoring touch after struggling badly in front of the goal this month.

Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 market first where the big favourite for this game is Atletico Madrid. The home side is not in good league form, but punters will see them as strong jollies here, priced @ 1.39. Real Valladolid travel in good enough spirits but their lack of goals is a concern. They are @ 8.50 to win while the draw is @ 4.85.

Moving onto the Asian handicap market for this contest. Atletico Madrid will give away a -1.25 start @ 1.89.  Valladolid is a tough and stubborn side and so it won’t be easy for the host who lacks confidence. Valladolid +1.25 is @ 1.95 and a slight preference. If they only lose by one then it’s a half-stake win, anything better than a full win @ 1.97.

Looking at The Under/Over market last of all which is at 2.5. Over is priced @ 1.88 while the Under is @ 1.95.  These two clubs often play ugly and have in recent weeks been involved in low-scoring matches, so a clear preference for the Under here which looks the value.
