Barcelona v Getafe – Betting Preview

Barcelona Summary

Barcelona’s spirits and confidence on the pitch are strong despite issues off it. They won the Spanish cup final against bitter rivals Real Madrid last weekend and then eased through comfortably to a quarter-final in the cup midweek.

Manager Xavi will recall most of his starters who were rested in their 0-5 win over AD Ceuta on Thursday.

Araujo and Frenkie de Jong return from a rest to make the squad. Barcelona played just three days ago but fatigue isn’t a big worry as only one or two starters here will have begun in that match.

However, the team will not be close to its best. Two notable bans significantly reduce attacking power and scoring threats for the home side as Ferran Torres and Lewandowski serve suspensions.

Getafe Summary

Getafe is only just above the drop zone before any weekend matches have begun. There is nothing expected of them here considering the opponent is Barcelona, but they are in danger of dropping into the bottom three soon and so cannot give up on any available points.

Getafe’s mood and confidence are unstable. They’re hovering above the drop zone and experienced boss Quique Flores admits the situation is worrying for all concerned.

Quique Sánchez Flores has a full-strength Squad to select from barring the long-term injured midfielder, Mauro Arambarri. The midfielder is joined on the sidelined by former Barcelona striker Munir, a frequently used sub for Getafe but nothing more.

Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 market first, where the favourite for this game is Barcelona @ 1.17. Getafe is given almost no hope in the betting markets and is a massive outsider @ 19. The draw is a little more realistic perhaps for Getafe to come away with something, priced @ 7.5.

Moving onto the Asian handicap market for this contest. Barcelona is giving away a full 2 goal start to Getafe, a team that knows how to defend and battle. Barcelona -2 @ 2.02 is not ideal considering Lewandowski is not available. Getafe could keep this down and the handicap result likely will come down to how much Getafe chase the game if and when they go behind. Getafe +2 is @ 1.85 and a very slight preference.

Looking at The Under/Over market last of all which looks well set at 2.75. No preference at all here. Over is priced @ 1.83 and the Under is @ 2.01. Getafe will sit back and play for 0-0, they can keep it goalless for enough to make 3 or more goals look a big ask.
