Cadiz Summary

Cadiz begin this round of games stuck in the bottom three places and confidence and morale took another boost in recent days. They suffered a Copa del Rey defeat to lower-league Real Unión in the club’s most recent competitive outing.

The cup was not a competition high on the agenda but departing at this stage to a low-ranked club has damaged the mood further. Only a win against Almeria would give Cadiz the chance to haul themselves out of the bottom three to end 2022, and that is the aim here.

At their home ground Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla last season Cadiz was able to beat sides deemed around or below their level, which is the case here. Anything less than 3 points would be a big blow against Almeria.

Sergio González has important winger Alejo missing with a suspension while all of Jon Ander Garrido, Joseba Zaldua, Momo Mbaye, Juan Cala and Víctor Chust are missing injured. Of these Zaluda and Chust are noted as definite starters when available, so it is a reduced strength Cadiz side.

Almeria Summary

Almería come into the game sitting in an impressive 14th position and with the mood positive, though a defeat here would change that dynamic and end 2022 on a low.

Like their host, Almeria also suffered a slightly embarrassing cup exit at the hands of a lower league club, but 3 points here is far more important. This is the case particularly with a tough run of matches ahead.

Their away form provides tough reading for fans, with August’s draw at Elche still accounting for their sole away point this season. On a positive note, the boss Rubi has no injury absences or bans heading into the game with Cadiz.

Ivan Matos is available having spent the entire season to date in the physio room, he could make the squad but won’t start yet. Almeria will be at full strength for this contest.

Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 market first, where the favourite for this game is the home side Cadiz to get the win @ 2.40. The draw is @ 3.20 while the outsider is Almeria @ 3.25.

Moving onto the Asian handicap market for this relegation battle. Cadiz are giving away a -0.25 start @ 2.01 but team news is not ideal for them or punters keen to side with them. Almeria +0.25 meanwhile have lost their last six away games and so faith is needed to back them @ 1.86, even with the draw returning half of the stake as a winning bet.

Looking at The Under/Over market last of all. The goal line dropped from 2.5 to 2.25 since opening, with the view of the game being a tight and nervous one. Over 2.25 @ 1.98 and Under @ 1.85. It is the type of match where both sides will be desperate for a win but the fear of losing could plague the contest with fears and make it a low scoring affair.
