Cadiz v Elche – Betting Summary

Cadiz Summary

Cadiz comes into the match in a positive mood after a huge confidence-boosting win over Valencia last weekend.

The shock away victory against one of Spain’s biggest clubs outside of the giants was much needed. Much needed in terms of the three points in their quest for survival, and also to gain momentum after crashing out of the cup against Real Unión the previous week.

Cadiz sees this as a vital game to win to help them move closer to safety. Elche is the bottom club and is roundly considered in Spain to be certain to go down. Anything less than victory is a massive setback for Cadiz who are two unbeaten in the league.

Manager Sergio González has numerous absences, but none are new, meaning Cadiz could go unchanged from the deserved and impressive win against Valencia.

Jon Ander Garrido, Joseba Zaldua, Jose Mari, Juan Cala, and Víctor Chust are missing with injuries. Of these Zaluda and Chust are noted as definite starters when available. However, Zaldua like Jose Mari is not expected back this season.

Elche Summary

Elche took a big step back under Pablo Machin with the loss to fellow relegation strugglers Celta Vigo at home last time out.

On the back of the respectable performance away at Atletico Madrid, a flat 0-1 defeat in front of their desperate supporters was a big setback for the recently appointed manager.

The dressing room is down but despite being cut adrift at the very bottom of La Liga, the words coming out of the club remain optimistic. Elche insists that they haven’t and won’t give up hope, a loss here, however, and staying up is impossible to envisage.

Elche knows a win here is a must to significantly boost the chances of staying up. Gonzalo Verdu is back from a suspension, but they are now missing Pedro Bigas for three games after he was the latest player to see red.

Chetauya and John Chetauya remain out along with Nico Fernández who is the only significant absence of the handful of men missing for Elche.

Squad player Lirola is unable to feature due to illness while Josan Ferrandez Returns.

Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 market first, where the favourite for this game is Cadiz @ 1.95. The host will be determined to get a win and build on the highly impressive victory in Valencia away from home. Elche is @ 4.1 and the draw is @ 3.4.

Moving onto the Asian handicap market for this contest. Cadiz -0.5 are almost the same price as the 1×2 market @ 1.94. Elche +0.5 will probably just about take a draw but knows only a win significantly boost their chances of staying up. Elche +0.5 have the draw onside as a full win @ 1.92, but backing them takes a leap of faith as they looked woeful at home to Celta.

Looking at The Under/Over market last of all which is set at 2.25, fairly high considering the minimal respect many punters will have for this kind of struggling club. There is a case for the game opening up however as there is zero mutual respect and both will eye the opponent up as a must-win material, always good for overs. The negative, however, is that Elche rarely looked capable of scoring this month. Under is @ 1.86 and the Over is @ 1.96.
