Cadiz v Sevilla – Betting Preview
Cadiz Summary
Cadiz comes into the game unbeaten in three matches and extremely well motivated to beat a local Andalusian rival.
Cadiz carved out a slightly fortunate and very hard-fought draw to Almeria before the international break.
They are determined to build on their good recent results. The win over Rayo three weeks ago has been followed up by credible away draws, particularly the one earned in San Sebastian against Sociedad.
They are above the drop zone and level on points with the opponent Sevilla.
Sitting just two points above the drop zone, Cadiz knows this is a potentially crucial match.
The home form makes for highly impressive reading. Cadiz has won four from their last six matches at home now in La Liga 2022/23. They will be set on a win but it is a must not lose game.
Looking at team news now where Sergio González remains without their impressive winger Ocampo.
Cadiz has two men sitting out extended bans from the war with Getafe. Iza Carcelén and keeper Jeremías Ledesma still have multiple games between them to miss out.
Escalante, Jon Ander Garrido and Joseba Zaldua are missing with injuries.
Sevilla Summary
Sevilla sacked manager Jorge Sampaoli after the 2-0 loss to relegation rival Getafe last weekend.
The club quickly moved to appoint Jose Luis Mendilibar who takes his first game in charge in Cadiz. He is an experienced manager that will demand and receive immediate respect from the squad.
The former Osasuna and Eibar boss among other clubs will almost certainly bring an uplift in the discipline and effort in the Sevilla team.
He is not known for playing entertaining or expansive football, which the fans won’t worry about just yet. Mendilibar’s focus will be the team showing aggression, organisation and being more committed than the opponent.
Sevilla is above the drop zone on 28 points, but far from safe as there is just a two-point gap between them and 18th place Valencia.
Looking at team news for Sevilla. Fernando is missing his last game of four banned.
Marcao, Papu Gómez, and Karim Rekik are all out injured.
The new boss is expected to use a 4-2-3-1 formation as the club lacks a qualify centre forward to sit alongside En Nesyri. With only 5 goals to his name, he is the club top scorer this season.
Below one can see En Nesyri stats relative to other forwards in the division and in goal contribution, it is well below average. One thing is clear however, the entire team has not fed him well and he is a vitally important player this season based on what they have available.
Betting Analysis
Looking at the 1×2 market first. Sevilla is a favourite to win the game which will come as a surprise to Cadiz fans.
Team news does favour Sevilla @ 2.40 but they would not lose sleep over a draw, which is @ 3.15. Cadiz to win is @ 3.25.
Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. Sevilla -0.25 is @ 2.02,
Caduiz +0.25 with the draw onside as a half-win is a slight preference based on value, they are @ 1.85.
Looking at The Under/Over goal betting last of all. The line is set at 2.
I can completely see why the line is so low when considering the new manager effect for Sevilla, combined with the way Cadiz play. This will almost certainly be an ugly physical battle. Could see a 0-0 in this kind of match, Under is @ 2.04 and the Over is @ 1.88.
