Celta Vigo v Rayo Vallecano – Betting Preview
Celta Summary
Celta Vigo got a credible and useful point last weekend in Osasuna.
The draw in Pamplona came on the back of one of their best performances of the season at home to Real Valladolid, winning 3-0 with some glorious attacking football on show.
The Galicians are in excellent form and their spirits are high.
They sit on 27 points but due to sides below them also winning including Getafe, they do not feel comfortable. Celta is sitting just two points ahead of 18th placed Almeria.
Looking at team news now. Celta remain without Agustín Marchesín and Óscar Mingueza who remain out.
Ivan Villar was outstanding keeping goal in the 0-0 with Osasuna, his saves won them the point.
Carlos Carvalhal is without Hugo Mallo and Renato Tapia due to bans.
As the radar map shows, the veteran Mallo is an all action right back who has been an asset getting forward and for his leadership. He is also coming out on top of his defensive duels. The weaker Kevin Vasquez replaces him.
Rayo Vallecano Summary
Rayo Vallecano has suffered a setback in the last few weeks and dropped out of the top six, currently sitting in 7th position in La Liga 2022/23.
Even still, anything in the top half of the league must be marked as a success for Rayo who have been over achieving this season.
The loss to lowly Cadiz was followed up to a 0-0 draw with Athletic Bilbao last time out.
The overall mood and confidence are good despite mini drop off in form, and they are enjoying a highly successful season.
Looking now at team news now for this encounter against Celta Vigo, which is all very positive and only positive selection dilemmas.
Iraola has the entire Squad available and can recall Catena from a ban.
Betting Analysis
Looking at the 1×2 market first. Celta Vigo is the favourite to win this contest @ 2.15.
Rayo are much higher in the division but there is a sense that the wind has gone from the sail, so the market has it right with them the outsider in this market @ 3.80. The draw meanwhile is on offer @ 2.90.
Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. Celta give away a -0.25 start @2.08.
Their last showing at home was superb against Valladolid and if they replicate that, this should be a solid home victory.
Rayo are no pushover however; they have the draw onside (as a half win) @ 1.80. preference for Celta.
Looking at The Under/Over goal betting last of all. The line is at 2 on this which puts it into overs range for me. Over is @ 1.80 and the Under is @2.04.
Should it end with exactly 2 goals then the stake is returned either way.
