Getafe v Rayo Vallecano – Betting Preview

Getafe Summary

Getafe got a late and undeserved 1-1 draw away in Atletico Madrid last weekend.

It was a massive confidence boost and a potentially important point that frankly, Getafe didn’t expect. It didn’t do much good for them in the short-term fight for survival, but they are in a desperate situation where they need to fight for every point possible.

Getafe’s confidence is low, and morale is a concern. The boss said last week that the dressing room is fine but there is increasing speculation that he is losing the faith of the squad.

Quique Flores has only one notable new absence but it’s a big player to have missing for what is bound to be a full-blooded and seriously physical derby. Djene their towering centre back is one of the strongest players in La Liga 2022/23, so a significant blow for this contest to have him suspended.

Squad player Juan Iglesias was the only player confirmed out for this game by Quique Flores. Now match sharp, Arambarri starts in the holding role.

Rayo Vallecano Summary

Rayo Vallecano is enjoying a great positive season and their spirit and confidence are strong. This is a game against their biggest rival and they’ll aim to win, but a draw isn’t a terrible result either.

After back-to-back wins against Almeria and Villarreal, they are starting this weekend as high as 5th place.

Rayo Vallecano is comfortably clear of the relegation zone and instead, looking up at the top six. There has been a big distraction that could affect progress as Iraola has been heavily linked to a job in England with Leeds united.

The club has rejected the approach for the former Bilbao right back, but it is expected that Leeds will come back with an improved offer and some rumours suggest the boss is keen on the switch.

Rayo has good team news with boss Iraola able to call his entire squad, including Alvaro Garcia who returned to full training midweek.

Raul De Tomas is lacking match fitness; they are expected to keep an unchanged team from the one which comfortably defeated Almeria 2-0.

Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 market first. The slight favourite for this game is Getafe by the slightest of margins @ 2.80. Rayo is in excellent form and is @ 2.90 to win. The draw looks a likely result here @ 2.95.

Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. So close is the betting between these two well matched sides, the Draw no bet  (DNB) is offered as a cushion. So, a bet on either Getafe -0 @ 1.91 or Rayo -0 @ 1.95 would see the full stake returned should it end as a draw.

Looking at The Under/Over goal line last of all which looks correctly low. Both teams know how to be physical and play ugly and that is the view on how this match pans out. Over 1.75 is @ 1.87 and the Under 1.75 is @ 1.95. If there are exactly 2 goals then the stake is split between a half push and half win if the punter went on Overs, or a half loss and half win if the punter opted for overs.
