Rayo Vallecano v Sevilla  – Betting Preview

Rayo Vallecano Summary

Rayo Vallecano is enjoying a great positive season and their spirit and confidence are strong.

With Betis winning on Saturday, Rayo cannot move higher than the position they currently occupy, a highly impressive sixth position.

Back-to-back wins against Almeria and Villarreal were followed by a slightly disappointing draw away in Getafe last weekend. That is a big rival however and being away from home, they didn’t expect to win the game easily despite how low Getafe is in the division.

Rayo Vallecano is comfortably clear of the relegation zone and instead, looking up at the top six. There is more stability this week after the manager is content to stay put for now having attracted EPL club Leeds United.

Rayo has good team news with boss Iraola able to call his entire squad. The expectations based on their training this week that the boss used the same team which drew 1-1 at the coliseum.

Raul De Tomas is lacking match fitness and now confidence having missed a chance to win the game last weekend, instead seeing his late penalty missed.

Sevilla Summary

Sevilla has won three games from their last four outings and the only defeat in that LaLiga 2022/23 run was the one in Barcelona (L4-0) last weekend. The strong feeling in all areas is that this hammering was a one-off as they met a club in amazing form on the day. And with this, they will not let it affect momentum.

With this dramatic improvement in results and performances, Sevilla’s mood and confidence are much better than it was a few weeks ago. As a result, the dressing room spirit is much better.

They begin the round in midtable, with a respectable four-point gap over the bottom three, depending on earlier results. That said, nobody is feeling safe yet in the club, and they are still very much involved in a relegation battle.

A win here cannot send Sevilla higher than 12th place as Girona lead them on goal difference, but they aim to beat Rayo, a club going well but not one they’ll fear at all.

Team news is negative and could become worse if Rakitic doesn’t recover fully from a fever. He has made the squad, but the Croatian midfielder will be given a late fitness test.

Dealing with the certainties, Jorge Sampaoli is missing the injured Badé plus the suspended duo Jordán and Gudelj.

Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 Betting market first. Rayo Vallecano is a favourite to win @ 2.50, which I feel is a little short and would not want to touch them at that price. Sevilla is improving and won’t fear the host, a draw is @ 3.15, and the Sevilla win is @ 3.20.

Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. The visitors have the draw onside which makes them look attractive, with the belief that they should be closer to DNB based on the quality they are showing since finding their feet last month. Sevilla +0.25 @ 1.85 is a strong preference. A draw pays as a half-win.

Looking at The Under/Over goal betting last of all. The market saw the line move up from under/over 2 goals to a line of 2.25. no strong view on this, both are generally bold in their approach but also high tempo and erratic, so waste chances and know how to peter games out by wasting time and killing the tempo.
