Real Betis v Celta Vigo – Betting Preview

Real Betis Summary

Real Betis pushed league leaders Barcelona close in the midweek game but was unable to hold on for a positive result. The win in Getafe did however ensure they stay in touch with the European places.

Real Betis’ mood and confidence are good this season and they are boosted by keeping all their key players during the transfer window. A win here is the aim and anything less would be a big setback to their top six chances.

Pellegrini has pretty much his best side available for the game at el Benito Villamarín, only holding midfielder William Carvalho is out banned.

Loren and long-term absentee Camarasa are back to fitness and called up, along with new signing Ayoze Perez. The ex-Leicester and Newcastle man is expected to push for a starting berth once settled.

Celta Summary

Carlos Carvalhal is enjoying a good run of form and Celta travel south in excellent spirits after beating rivals Athletic Bilbao last weekend.

The Portuguese technician is getting a tune out of his team, and they will seek a draw here in order to maintain momentum.

The confidence in Galicia is positive, but there was bad news late in the week when important number one Agustín Marchesín got an Achilles injury which will see him miss the remainder of the season.

Celta will lean on average shot-stopper Iván Villar who has long been their backup keeper. It’s a significant loss for the club this game and going forward, as he won’t be back for up to 8 months. There are no other absences for Celta Vigo.

Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 market first. The favourite for this game is Real Betis @ 2.20. Celta Vigo is improving their form in recent weeks but will be tested here in particular as they have their star keeper ruled out. Celta is @ 3.70 while the draw is @ 3.10.

Moving onto the Asian handicap market for this contest. Real Betis start the weekend in 6th place and Celta is ten places below in 16th, still fighting a relegation battle. Celta gets a small +0.25 start @1.83, meaning punters need them to get all 3 points for a full win. Real Betis -0.25 @ 2.05 is quite attractive and a preference.  Should it end all square then Betis -0.25 backers only lose half the stake which is a reassuring cushion.

Looking at The Under/Over betting last of all. The line has dropped down from 2.5 to 2, indicating punters do not expect many goals. This is a little surprising as traditionally, the two are viewed as entertaining footballing clubs. Over 2 is @ 1.88 while Under 2 is @1.97.
