Real Mallorca v Real Sociedad – Betting Preview
Real Mallorca Summary
After a narrow loss to Espanyol was followed by a shock home loss by Elche the rock bottom club last weekend, Mallorca has come down from a high in the last couple of weeks.
Even still, the morale and confidence are incredibly high and they have little to no fear of being dragged into any kind of relegation battle this season.
Hosting Real Sociedad, the win is the aim but a draw would not be a disaster.
Based on their superb form at their home stadium, the islanders are closer to the top six and the drop zone. There is a sense they are playing carefree and with nothing to lose.
Aguirre is not keen to publicly entertain any ambitions for European places, but a win here pulls them closer to that possibility.
Team news sees one big loss as Real Mallorca is without star striker Vedat Muriqi, who serves a suspension for the home game with Sociedad.
On top of this big absence, Javier Aguirre needs to give Martin Valjent a late fitness test in the defence.
Giovanni is on standby if Valjent cannot pass fit.
For Muriqi, there are numerous options but none at the same level. Kadewere and Abdón are the main options but is a notable reduction to their goal threat.
Real Sociedad Summary
Real Sociedad has hit something of a brick wall in recent weeks, and in dire need of a win to keep pace with the Champions League places in La Liga 2022/23 table.
This, after once been considered the form club in Spain and commanding third spot in La Liga.
The Basques dropped to a 2-0 loss in Rome midweek and are on the verge of going out of the UEFA Europa league.
The mood is not bad, but there is some concern about the steep decline in results, winning just once from their last six in the league.
The draw at home to Cadiz in the last La Liga game saw arguably their most flat performance at home this campaign.
They face Mallorca with a strong XI and will aim for the win, anything less is a blow.
Looking at team news now for Sociedad, which is in part, pending on how a handful of Players which featured in the UEL midweek recover.
They are definite missing Aritz Elustondo, Umar Sadiq and Martín Merquelanz. It is however noted that the form and more important of this trio is back in full training but will not return yet.
Having been Rested midweek, Oyarzabal and Brais should begin in a near full strength Sociedad outfit.
David Silva looks set to begin in the number ten role in an exciting looking Basque starting side.
Betting Analysis
Looking at the 1×2 market first which is very close. Mallorca have excellent home form barring the previous match where they lost to Elche thanks to a last minute goal. They are a slight outsider @ 3.50.
Sociedad is @ 2.50 and the draw is @ 2.85.
Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. Mallorca have a small +0.25 start @ 1.83.
Sociedad has the better team news but concerns about their fatigue having played midweek. Even still, Sociedad +0.25 @ 2.04 is a preference.
Looking at The Under/Over goal betting last of all where the line is set low at 1.75.
Over is @ 1.88 and the under @ 1.94. Normally, the view would be to take the overs purely on such a low line, but the sense here is that this one will be very tight and possibly decided by one goal.
