Real Sociedad v Real Valladolid – Betting Preview
Real Sociedad Summary
Real Sociedad is enjoying a fantastic season so far and the draw in Madrid midweek has added to their growing confidence and momentum.
They start the weekend in 3rd spot and will remain in this spot even if Atletico Madrid wins their Saturday game against Getafe.
Imanol Alguacil has a few injury concerns heading into this game but none are new. Besides, such is the depth in the Basque squad and the obvious chemistry between them when on the pitch, so far the busy physio room hasn’t harmed results on the pitch.
On top of the numerous existing absences detailed below, they remain without playmaker David Silva who pulled a hamstring in training last week and remains out.
Mikel Merino, Ali Cho, Gorosabel, Sola, and Pacheco remain out along with potential season-ending injuries to Carlos Fernández, Umar Sadiq, and Merquelanz.
The only positive is that Ander Barrenetxea can return to face Valladolid on Sunday.
Real Valladolid Summary
Real Valladolid started the weekend outside of the bottom three after gaining a vital win over Valencia last time out.
They will be equally well motivated against Sociedad; a draw would be a good result, but only a win adds to their breathing space above the drop zone where they currently sit just above.
After such a horrible run of five straight losses, Pacheta was fully backed by the owner before the win over Valencia, and the dressing room also seems fully behind the boss. This is based on the showing last time out and subsequent celebrations with the last-gasp victory against Valencia.
Their confidence and nerves remain fragile heading to the Basque country, but all the talk is of them being focused on the job in hand.
Team news-wise, Roque Mesa is suspended and so there is one forced absence for the trip North. There are several continued absences with Escudero, Kenedy, and Anuar sidelined due to injury.
Winger Cabral was not able to sign for the club in time for the end of the transfer window.
Betting Analysis
Looking at the 1×2 market first. Real Sociedad will sit in third place regardless of this result and any others around them. This could mean there is little urgency, but for certain, there is plenty of expectancy from punters for them to win @ 1.43. The draw is @ 4.45 and Valladolid is a big outsider @ 8.50.
Moving onto the Asian handicap market for this contest. The punters will likely be drawn to the big Basque favourite Sociedad who have a handicap of -1..25 @ 2.03. This means only a win by 2 goals gives backers a full win. Valladolid is capable of making it ugly and keeping it close, they get the +1.25 start @ 1.84. easy to walk away from this market.
Looking at The Under/Over betting last of all, which is at 2.5. Over is @ 1.80 while the Under is @ 2.04. The home side will go for the win and attack until ahead. Valladolid by contrast will sit back and only attack if and when they go behind. The line looks right and this is an easy marker to leave well alone.
