Sevilla v Elche –  Betting Preview

Sevilla Summary

The league table makes less frightening reading for Sevilla after getting a much-needed win over fellow strugglers Cadiz last weekend.

One small step forward, however, was countered by a disappointing loss in Pamplona in the cup midweek.

The exit from the Copa del Rey was particularly annoying for the club as they played 120 minutes and so fatigue now harms their approach to this must-win match against Elche.

Sevilla moved out of the drop zone with the victory at home to Cadiz, but they are still aware they remain embroiled in a relegation battle they never wanted or expected.

For now, the team spirit is fine and the dressing room seems united.

Despite inconsistent results, Sevilla has always shown good levels of commitment in matches.

Sampaoli’s chosen team will be based on who is fresher after the midweek clash against Osasuna which they lost 2-1 after extra time. Lamela is out suspended and backup keeper Dmitrovic is missing with a knock.

Papu Gómez, Fernando, and Januzaj all return having been rested.

Elche Summary

Bottom club Elche managed to dig out a rare point last weekend at home to Osasuna, just enough to keep the season alive.

The Osasuna match was one in which they had desperately wanted to take all three points to boost their flagging chances of staying up. On the positive side, they will have taken some small confidence scoring and getting the draw against a well-performing club.

The effort and commitment are not questioned but the quality most certainly is. This is the perception given by local press and fans who have all but given up hope Elche can stay up.

In terms of team news there is one notable new absence. Pablo Machin is missing the important Jose Angel Carmona who is banned.

John Chetauya remains out injured along with Jony Alamo, Alex Collado, and Quina is also ruled out.

Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 market first. The clear favourite for this game is Sevilla to win @ 1.54. Elche is yet to win this season and already has used the new manager bounce card, leaving them in a sorry-looking state. Punters give them little hope, Elche is priced @ 7.00 to win. A draw would not satisfy either club very much, it can be backed @ 4.00.

Moving onto the Asian handicap market for this contest. Sevilla -1 should win but even though Elche is playing some horrible football, it’s hard to consider the home side @1.91. Elche +1 is @ 1.95, an easy market to walk away from with these lines.

Looking at The Under/Over goal line last of all. It has dropped from 2.5 down to 2.25 goals, meaning the expectation from punters is a tight match. This makes sense, who scores first is huge considering the lack of attacking quality on show. Over 2.25 is @ 1.84 while the Under 2.25 is @ 1.99.
