Villarreal v Real Sociedad – Betting Preview

Villarreal Summary

Villarreal’s mood and confidence is much improved coming into this round after back-to-back wins.

They have racked up highly impressive away wins over Osasuna (3-0) and Almeria the previous week. These results keep them in with a chance of making the 4th place which is the aim.

With these consecutive victories, the la Liga 2022/23 table suddenly makes for much better reading for the Yellow Submarine.

Villarreal had been ousted from the top six in February but with the improvement, remain well in the fight for European places, including the much coveted 4th spot.

This is a match they will be set on getting all three points to keep up hopes of 4th place. A draw is not a disaster.

Looking at team news now. Villareal host Sociedad missing key man Gerard Moreno Who limped off in their win over Osasuna last weekend.

Morales came off the bench to score twice and his numbers as a centre forward stack up well for a player which has been used as a right winger and right back much of his career. Either way, it is a significant loss to the host.

Dynamic midfielder Alex Baena returns form a suspension in the only good news for Villarreal.

Meanwhile Seiten is missing both defensive men Capoue and Coquelin.

Real Sociedad Summary

They got back to winning ways last time out before the international break with a 2-0 win over rock bottom club Elche.

This boosted the spirits, but it would have been a disaster had they not beaten the basement club.

Sociedad’s league form was bad, and they also recently crashed out of the UEL with a knockout blow dealt by Roma.

The overall sense is that Real Sociedad has hit a brick wall, winning only twice in their last eight league matches.

They remain in the top four however, and will see this as a winnable game, but they must not lose versus another UEFA chasing rival.

Sociedad’s their main aim now out of the Europa league is to try and qualify for champions league.

Looking at team news now for Sociedad, they are missing Umar Sadiq and Martín Merquelanz.

Aritz Elustondo is back fit but not considered match sharp and so will remain out.

In one piece of good news, the important Mikel Merino returns from a suspension.
