Barcelona 1-0 Getafe – Betting Review

Match Summary

Barcelona was happy to play out the game in a low gear against a Getafe, doing enough to see out a narrow 1-0 win. Comfortable considering they led from around the half-hour but the performance lacked intensity and sparkle

Getafe was defensive-minded and didn’t want to take big risks until late, but they never generated any momentum and never looked likely to avoid a loss.

The host extended their winning run to six-straight games with this win over relegation-threatened Getafe.

Barcelona was not very motivated to start well and much to the surprise of the crowd, the struggling visitor held their own throughout the majority of the first half hour or so.

Getafe’s well-drilled backline made it difficult for Barça to break the lines but the home side dominated the play.

Buoyed by the Supercup win over Real Madrid, Barcelona showed their ruthlessness in front of goal when the first clear opportunity arrived.

Barcelona stole possession from Getafe and Raphinia floated a delicious cross into the box which Pedri finished with class.

With a busy schedule on the horizon, Xavi made many changes during the break. And considering the team was already content playing a slow tempo, it looked set for a reactive second half, and that it was.

Barcelona didn’t create many clear-cut opportunities in a cagey affair which may have surprised casual observers.

Franck Kessié should have done better when he found himself in on goal in the final minutes, but such was Getafe’s lack of ideas and quality in possession, Barcelona never needed a second goal. Fair scores are 1-0 and 2-0.

Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 market first where the favourite for this game was Barcelona, who won @ 1.17. Perhaps they didn’t truly win like such short odds on jolly should do, but it is also fair to say they played within themselves and could have done more had they needed to.

Moving onto the Asian handicap market for this contest. Barcelona didn’t play at a good enough intensity to ever really suggest they would win by three goals or more, something backers would have feared before and even after they went ahead. As outlined in the preview, Getafe was never likely to take massive risks and they won with the +2 handicap @ 1.85.

Looking at The Under/Over market last of all. As with the Asian handicap, the goal market was affected by the jolly which didn’t want to exert too much energy, and a massive underdog which didn’t want to take any risks and just stay in the match. Under was a clear winner here @ 2.01.
