Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 market first. Getafe won as a marginal favourite @ 2.80.

Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. With the 1×2 odds so close between these two well matched sides, the Draw no bet  (DNB) was the offer. Getafe -0 @ 1.89 were the winners in this market.

Looking at The Under/Over goal betting last of all. The line had moved up from 1.5 to 2 goals, indicating the punters had anticipated the goals which duly arrived on gameday.

In stark contrast to most Getafe matches, this was so open and entertaining thanks to a more attacking Getafe approach, but as much so an error prone and sloppy Girona.

Over won easily @ 1.96, with the push (2nd goal) confirmed after 15 minutes and overs paying out by the 44th minute.

Match Summary

A clinical Getafe put the game to bed in a dominant first half performance, forcing and punishing mistakes in an unmotivated looking Girona.

Getafe were 2-0 ahead by the 15th minute and it was 3-0 at the break.

Girona were given more time on the ball to improve in the second half and they did, but were not good enough to repair the horrible first half damage. It ended 3-2 which is flattering for a game of little quality but plenty of mistakes.

Getafe was the more determined and solid outfit when it mattered.

They merited their win and although it was nervy in the end, they did not generate enough on their own to every have merited the 3-0 lead. Fair score 2-1.

With this victory, Getafe extended their winning streak at home to three matches at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

The loss left Girona flustered having seen their growing reputation in tatters having been beaten badly by a relegation candidate.

The host wanted it more from the start.

Getafe put Girona to the sword in the first quarter-hour with a quickfire brace, with Turkish forward Enes Unal the key to their best moments.

He fired the hosts into the lead following Borja Mayoral’s pass after a giveaway from Girona playing out from a goal kick.

Soon after, Unal converted a penalty himself following a cynical challenge by Girona stopper Javi Hernandez.

Somewhat uncharacteristically, the Azulones continued mounting pressure on Girona and didn’t sit back, and so a third always looked likely.

As much as Girona tried to push ahead and seek a way back, they were left badly exposed at the back.

Getafe struck a third via Mayoral which was the goal of the game. He stuck a brilliant effort into the bottom corner right on the stroke of half time.

Getafe sat off in the second half and the visitors did all the probing after the break.

Some nerves were felt in the stadium when Taty Castellanos’ tapped in following a fast break away soon into the period.

The atmosphere in the stadium remained buoyant and Getafe seemed to have held back any proper comeback, though once more a Girona goal increased nerves.

A stunning long shot from Miguel Gutierrez on the second play from a corner made it a very anxious final ten minutes for the home side.

However, Michel’s outfit ultimately failed to build upon their momentum, falling to a resolute Getafe side in the dying minutes.
