Real Madrid 0-0 Real Sociedad – Betting Review
Match Summary
A frustrated Real Madrid was unable to find the breakthrough against a superb defensive stance by Sociedad on Sunday evening, with the game finishing up 0-0.
The home side moved the ball accurately and cleverly at times but even when they worked big chances, the Basques stood firm and managed to hold on for the point.
It was far from being a dull contest, but due to some poor finishing and strong keeping, Real Madrid lost further ground to Barcelona in the title race after being held 0-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Having seen their Copa del Rey clash in midweek go into extra time, Real Madrid could perhaps be forgiven for starting slowly in this game.
It could have been worse had Alexander Sørloth not wasted a golden chance, his complete airshot with the goal at his mercy let Real off the hook.
The contest ended 0-0 but was very entertaining, more like basketball at times, with both sides going at each other in search of an opener.
Vinícius Júnior and Asier Illarramendi hadn’t quite tuned in their radars as they both flashed efforts inches wide of the target.
Despite being goalless at the break, the first half was a real humdinger, and though the hosts perhaps just shaded it, beating Álex Remiro was proving problematic, as Toni Kroos found out on the stroke of the whistle for half time.
The deeper this game went, the more Sociedad began to sit deeper, but It didn’t mean chances for them lessened. It was the opposite as the home side took more risks
Karim Benzema’s fluffed a chance on the hour mark which was symptomatic of the evening from a Los Blancos point of view.
A clean through Vinícius was next in a long line of Real players to try their luck, but he again was greeted by Remiro, who was proving an immovable object in goal.
It remained that way too, with Remiro preserving his side’s eighth clean sheet of the league season, which now stands as the joint-second highest in La Liga.
The Basques were also wasteful on the odd breakaway but never came as close as Real Madrid and were fortunate to avoid a loss.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side is five points adrift as they continue to falter in their title defence. Sociedad added to their growing reputation in this showing but unquestionably, their keeper kept them in it. Fair scores are 2-0 and 2-1.
Betting Analysis
Looking at the 1×2 market first. Real Madrid @ 1.74 looked like a nice price before the kick-off but they didn’t manage the contest well, suffering the odd scare but then even when dominating, rushing big chances when they came. It was the draw that won at @ 3.95.
Moving onto the Asian handicap market for this contest. Real Madrid was giving away a -0.75 start to high-flying Sociedad and although it ended all square, the market was justified in this as the home side generated enough to win the match. Real Sociedad however continued their excellent league form and won with the +0.75 @ 1.91 start.
Looking at The Under/Over goal line last of all, which was set at 2.5. As outlined in the preview, the fact both teams played midweek didn’t help goals happen. Under 2.5 @ 1.93 was the way to go here. The match merited a couple of goals but the longer it stayed 0-0, the tighter and nervier both sides looked.
