Sevilla 3-0 Elche – Betting Review
Match Summary
Sevilla put in one of their strongest attacking performances of the season and cruised to a 3-0 win over basement club Elche, who had Bigas sent off in the 41st minute for a professional foul.
Thanks to some stunning finishing in particular from brace hero En Nesyri, Sevilla had the game won by halftime when they were already 3-0 up.
With this victory the home side registered only their fifth victory of the league campaign, allowing the vocal Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán to celebrate throughout the 2nd half.
Sevilla dominated the opening quarter-hour but the best chance was a free kick which Badía had to be on his toes to palm away.
Elche struggled to gain a foothold in the early exchanges and Sevilla was deservedly ahead in the 29th minute when Youssef En-Nesyri majestically rose high to head Marcos Acuña’s perfect cross.
Elche’s hopes of finding a route back into the game were then dealt a blow in the 41st minute when VAR intervened to recommend that the referee upgrade Pedro Bigas’s yellow card to a straight red. This after the defender had brought down Suso with the Sevilla forward bearing down on goal.
Feeling sorry for themselves and void of any confidence, Elche collapsed and lost their mental discipline with the red card.
Sampaoli’s side went for the kill. Sevilla impressively took the match away from Elche within five game-deciding minutes.
Acuña had a great game and he got his name on the scoresheet with a powerful strike from the edge of the area to make it 2-0.
A minute later En-Nesyri doubled his tally in added-on time with a sublimely-taken strike on his wrong foot.
With victory assured, Sampaoli allowed the team to drop the intensity and play keep ball for large parts of a procession of a second half.
Elche had zero opportunities to get a consolation but their keeper needed to be alert to stop Sevilla from getting another goal or two. Fair score 4-0.
The much-needed victory moves Sevilla four points clear of the relegation zone and allows all at the club to have some confidence a corner has been turned, though they do face Barcelona away next! In contrast, Elche remains on course for a return to La Liga 2. They are yet even to register a victory in the current campaign.
Betting Analysis
Looking at the 1×2 betting market first. The clear favourite for this game was Sevilla who won easily and impressively @ 1.54. The host in truth looked more like a 1.25 shot.
Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. Sevilla was always expected to win, but such has been their struggles to win games and score goals, the -1 handicap looked a big ask. The red card helped their cause, but Sevilla -1 @ 1.91 was a resounding winner in the end on this market.
Looking at The Under/Over goal line last of all. This was another market easy to walk away from considering one side wasn’t scoring goals before this game and the other cant! The line had dropped down from 2.5 to 2.25 but again, thanks in part due to the Elche red card, the match finished Over 2.25 goals @ 1.84.
