Barcelona already have played two matches this new season and the question on some fans minds is; where is Arthur? The Brazilian midfielder had an impressive debut season for the club but hasn’t featured at all this season.
Arthur last season drew lots of praise for the start he had and was also selected for the Copa America by his country Brazil where he was pivotal in their road to Copa America glory.
The Catalan club recently purchased Frenkie De Jong from Ajax to bolster their midfield.
In the past two games, they also moved Sergi Roberto to the middle of the park from his usual right-back position which also compounds things for the 23-year-old. Carles Alena has also been ahead in the pecking order of late as he started the first game of the season and Arthur wasn’t in the squad.
His absence might also be due to the fact that he missed most of preseason because of his international responsibilities which sometimes could affect a player’s chances in the rotation especially if they are in a big squad and not among the most important players.
Barcelona still have Rakitic and Arturo Vidal waiting on the sidelines. Those are two excellent players are sitting on the bench presently in the team. Like making the starting lineup is hard enough.
There is hope for him though, as Rakititc could be on the move out of the Camp Nou as the club tries to strike a deal to sign PSG’s Neymar.
Patience, for now and hard work has to be the key for the talented midfielder in order for him to get back into the Barcelona lineup and prove how talented a player he is once again.
