Real Madrid signed 21-year-old Serbian striker Luka Jovic for €65m from Eintracht Frankfurt to become the latest in a long line of goal scoring Galacticos.
When he played in Germany, he scored 36 goals in 75 games in all competitions. 27 of those goals were scored last season alone with 17 of those goals coming in the Bundesliga in 27 appearances with an average of goal every 132 minutes.

Last season he became the youngest player to score five goals in a single match. He did so against Fortuna Dusseldorf on matchday 8 of last season. Incredible stuff from the twenty-one-year-old.
Now in Spain, there is more pressure, more eyes on him and more expectation to perform at a higher level and compete for silverware, along with one obstacle whose name is Karim Benzema.
Last season Benzema led Real’s scoring charts with 30 goals in all competitions. It was his first 30 goal season since the 11/12 campaign where he scored 32 and he showed that he still has it in him as one of the most formidable strikers in Europe.
The Frenchman continued his good form from last season with a goal and an assist last game. Jovic came off the bench to replace Benzema but didn’t have enough time to affect the game.
If Benzema continues to perform in the same vein, Jovic will have to settle for a bit-part role at the club and a few starting roles in other competitions. All signs definitely point towards a frustrating season for the young Serbian.
