As part of a working group set up by UEFA, LaLiga president Javier Tebas is aiming to make sure the 2019-20 season is completed by June 30.
La Liga president Javier Tebas remains optimistic that all European leagues can be completed by June 30 regardless of the coronavirus pandemic.
The vast majority of sports throughout the planet have been halted by the outbreak of COVID-19, with soccer seeing Euro 2020 and the Copa America pushed back to 2021 as a result.
Tebas is a part of a working group set up by UEFA to invent solutions for the”resumption and/or conclusion of the current season in a coherent way”.
La Liga’s chief is certain things could be wrapped up by the end of June, though he confessed around six weeks of contest would be required.
“The situation may also be dependent on a few Champions League games which will be played in the weekend, which might give us a room to begin some clubs afterward, or that we are able to recover by starting all a bit later.
“We’re even working with leagues such as the Italian one, which has 14 games left, and the Danish one, which has 15 remaining. The decision of UEFA to postpone the European Championship has functioned well to attempt and finish the competitions.
It was a point that we knew could be attained and we’re working on different start dates.
“Here you need to work backward, with what’s the final date on which you can play to find the options which may come up.
“When we start playing there’ll be complete medical warranties, but no longer depends upon us, it is going to rely on the authorities of the nations. If they guarantee it can be performed, it’ll be played.”
Tebas insisted there are no plans to cut back on fixtures and confessed fans could be held out of games when they restart.
He said: “That will also depend on the authorities of each nation. You need to think that we’re working with 30 unique leagues and it’ll be based on the health authorities if it’s played behind closed doors or under what conditions.
“We aren’t contemplating any format modification for any contest, including the European ones. The mandate that we have is to complete the competitions as they’re now.
“The only job that worries me night and day is to complete the competitions.”
