Despite their shock defeat to bottom-of-the-league Levante on Wednesday night, Atletico Madrid will not be able to dwell on it for too long as they certainly have bigger games to be concerned about coming up.

Of course, Diego Simeone’s side has had a rather torrid time in La Liga so far this season and have been unable to put together a string of consistent results throughout the campaign, which is why they currently sit fifth in the table.

Real Sociedad – who sit sixth – have a game in hand and could make matters worse for the Los Rojiblancos, although the Madrid outfit will be looking to get back to winning ways as they return quickly to La Liga action with an away contest against Osasuna on Saturday.

That game, though, could be tricky to navigate given the club’s position in the table, however it could also be perfect for Simeone’s side as they will then meet Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 on Wednesday night.

And, despite all of the troubles that they have been experiencing recently, it would seem the Spaniards are touted to be favourites to win the first leg fixture, with Betway Sportsbook having priced them at 13/10.

These odds could be rather exceptional when you consider that the operator is also providing a number of special bonus promotions and boosts that can be utilized when placing a wager with them!

One reason why Atletico Madrid might have to be considered favourites for this contest, though, is simply down to how poorly Manchester United have been performing this season, too.

In truth, whilst the game features two of European football’s heavyweights, both sides have been struggling to do what everyone expects them to be doing when they take to the football pitch, with mixed results being just one of the areas of concern.

Both teams currently see their chances of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League competition a little doubtful at the moment given their league positions and the inconsistency that they have regarding results.

Nonetheless, we should still be able to see a quality fixture be played between the two sides, as we know both will want to go as far as possible in this competition and cause an upset or two whilst doing so.

Atletico Madrid are considered favourites to win the first leg of this encounter, although as we know, anything can happen.
