Undoubtedly, the fixture of Matchday 18 in La Liga this upcoming weekend between Sevilla and Atletico Madrid is the major highlight of Spanish football.
The two teams are amongst the biggest domestically and are two sides that regularly compete on the European stage that both generally do rather well.
Again, both sides are doing well currently in the La Liga standings, with the hosts currently sitting second in the table, whilst the visitors will head into the contest in fourth.
Trying to pick who could be the winner in this game could be rather difficult to predict, however it would seem that Sevilla are the favourites but only slightly. According to Betway Sportsbook, the hosts have been priced at 17/10, whereas Atletico are priced as 9/5 to take all three points on Saturday afternoon.
There could be a couple of reasons as to why these odds have been set the way that that they have, though, with Sevilla currently enjoying a better run of domestic form compared to Los Rojiblancos currently.
The hosts will head into the contest on the back of two wins, having defeated Villarreal and Athletic Club Bilbao in their recent matches, whereas Diego Simeone’s side are currently on a two-game losing streak.
Of course, their most recent defeat will have hurt as it came to La Liga leaders and city rivals, Real Madrid, last weekend, although the defeat to Real Mallorca would have come as a huge shock and one that no one would have been expecting.
However, their task in trying to achieve a win against Sevilla is going to be a difficult one as their opponents are exceptional when it comes down to the defensive side of the game.
Julen Lopetegui’s side has managed to concede just 11 goals in their opening 16 matches thus far; the best in La Liga currently. Only Athletic Club Bilbao are close to them in that regard, as they have conceded just 12, whilst Real Madrid are next with 15.
The goals scored column between the two sides is fairly similar, though, with both teams being rather proficient when it comes down to putting the ball in the back of the net.
Hopefully, there will be goals in this encounter and everyone watching you decides to have a punt on the outcome of the match is able to enjoy it a little more than the excitement on the pitch should ultimately provide, as well!
