Real Mallorca v Villarreal – Betting Preview
Real Mallorca Summary
Real Mallorca’s recent home form is sensationally positive, and they will hope to overcome Villarreal this weekend. The opponent in contrast is well out of the groove coming into the contest, and if Mallorca can engineer a win then it’s five in a row for the islanders in LaLiga 2022/23.
Aguirre has masterminded home victories over Real Madrid as well as Atletico during this run, so they will have belief and go for the three points in this match.
Based on their superb pick-up in the form at their home stadium, the club doesn’t have any relegation fears and is closer to the top six and the drop zone.
Despite enjoying good form in general and creating a considerable distance between them and the bottom three, Real Mallorca is not getting ahead of themselves.
The Islanders just want to stay focused on the ultimate goal which is to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.
Team news makes for very positive Reading for Real Mallorca. Only Angel Rodríguez missed some training and is a small doubt, but the player doesn’t affect the best XI that Aguirre can send out on Saturday.
Villarreal Summary
Villarreal’s mood and confidence dropped notably after two shock losses were followed up by a more acceptable one at home to Barcelona last weekend.
Before the Barcelona loss where they gave a reasonable account of themselves, Seiten saw his previously top-four chasing side lose to both Rayo Vallecano and far worse, an embarrassing 3-1 defeat at basement club Elche.
Villarreal has been ousted from the top six and starts the weekend sitting as low down as 8th place. Only a win here sees them in with a shot at getting back into the top six, the minimum aim of this campaign.
Team news is not encouraging but will depend on a crucial late fitness test. Dealing with the concrete news first; where Seiten is missing Alberto Moreno due to a ban at left-back, and so the experienced but slightly weaker Mojica steps in.
The much bigger reduction will however be if key man Gerard Moreno cannot pass fit. The boss will hold on until the last hour before deciding on whether the top scorer begins.
Villarreal is also without Giovani Lo Celso and Coquelin, along with Jackson.
Betting Analysis
Looking at the 1×2 market first. Villarreal is a favourite for this game but based on team news and current form of both sides, I wouldn’t bet Villarreal to win @ 2.55. The home side have some brilliant home form having won their last four on the spin and that included beating both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Real Mallorca is @ 3.45 to win and this looks big, while the draw is @ 2.95.
Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. As outlined above, Mallorca has plenty of reasons to encourage punters to back them with a +0.25 start @ 1.80. Villarreal -0.25 is @ 2.03 is a dangerous side and will be boosted if Moreno passes fit, but I would prefer DNB if I was to get involved on them in this match, even with Moreno fit. Maybe one to watch line ups or in running, Mallorca +0.25 would be a preference if Gerardo Moreno is ruled out.
Looking at The Under/Over betting last of all. Mallorca are viewed as a boring team with Unders always likely if their ideal game plan goes right. On this occasion however, the line moved up from 1.5 goals to 2 goals the day before the match. Over 2 is @ 2.04, easy to walk away from this as Villarreal aren’t reliable now.
